Match the wording to the main handling risk, then choose a bordered or unbordered treatment that remains clear on your paperwork or packaging.

Choose the handling message

Use Fragile as a broad warning, Handle With Care for general careful handling, Glass for breakable glass contents, Do Not Bend for flat rigid items and Do Not Stack where weight placed above could cause damage.

Bordered or unbordered?

A border separates the warning from surrounding print and can help it stand out on busy paperwork. An unbordered design has a cleaner, more open appearance. Compare the impression photographs before ordering.

Check the impression size

Most designs are listed at 45 × 18mm. The unbordered Fragile Glass layout is 45 × 15mm, while the bordered plain Fragile design is described as 45 × 17mm. Measure a clear area on the real label, sheet or carton before choosing.

Pair the warning with proper packing

A stamp helps communicate a handling instruction; it does not make packaging protective. Use suitable cartons, cushioning, dividers, rigid mailers and void fill for the contents, and follow the chosen carrier service requirements.

Five practical ink colours

Black: neutral, familiar and easy to photocopy.
Blue: useful when distinguishing an original mark from black print.
Red: high visibility where the dispatch status must stand out quickly.
Green: commonly associated with completed or positive actions.

Use it on suitable surfaces

The standard water-based ink is intended for absorbent matt paper and card. It is not designed for glossy tape, plastic, coated cartons or other non-porous surfaces. Corrugation, print and coatings can affect a box impression, so test an inconspicuous area first. Read the Stamp Ink Guide if the surface is uncertain.

  • Use a firm, flat stamping area.
  • Press straight down with even pressure.
  • Test the actual packaging material first.
  • Store the stamp upright when practical.

Can I stamp directly onto cardboard boxes?

Standard ink can work on absorbent matt paper and card, but box coatings, printed areas and corrugation affect the result. Test the actual material first. Do not use it on glossy tape, plastic or other non-porous surfaces.
