The basic principle
UV-reactive ink absorbs into a suitable surface and fluoresces when illuminated by an appropriate ultraviolet light. The result is discreet identification rather than a normal coloured impression.

Drying depends on the material and the amount of ink transferred. Do not handle, stack or rub the item until the test mark has dried.

Colour, coating, absorbency, handling and ambient lighting can all affect how discreet the dried mark looks and how strongly it fluoresces.

Design for a quick reveal
A security mark has to remain recognisable at the chosen physical size and under the available UV light. Fine detail that looks good on a screen may disappear in the real impression.
Bold lettering, open counters, clear spacing and simple shapes produce a mark that can be checked quickly and consistently.

The UV range currently uses six rectangular COLOP C formats and two square Q formats. Choose the smallest impression area that keeps every important element clear.
27 × 10mm or 38 × 14mm for initials, short codes, names and compact identifiers.
47 × 18mm or 59 × 23mm for compact logos, asset marks and longer wording.
69 × 30mm or 76 × 37mm when the design needs more space for detail or recognition.
30 × 30mm or 42 × 42mm for balanced symbols, seals and square organisation marks.
Before a full rollout
Use the actual substrate, the real UV light and the normal checking environment. A white paper test alone cannot prove how the mark will behave on a finished label, pass, certificate or asset surface.
Use it as one controlled layer alongside access procedures, records, unique references, numbering or other checks. A UV mark alone does not provide high-security anti-counterfeiting.
Staff need a working, suitable UV light and a known checking procedure. Ambient light, viewing distance, background fluorescence and battery condition can all change how easy the mark is to see.
Consistent checks
Make a control impression so staff know what a correct reveal should look like before important checking begins.
Use only the compatible UV replacement product for the exact stamp model. Do not substitute a standard coloured cartridge.
Store the stamp at a stable room temperature, away from direct sun and excessive heat that can shorten pad life.
Keep the UV light clean, charged and available at every location where the mark must be verified.
