Impression area first · stamp body second
Choose the smallest impression area that keeps your longest line, total number of lines and important detail clear. This guide turns millimetres into practical uses.
Choose by the impression area, not the outside dimensions of the stamp body.
More content needs more room
Proportions are illustrative. A screen cannot show guaranteed physical print size.
The listed size is the maximum printable area.
Use enough room for the content, not the biggest stamp by default.
Long wording, square logos and signatures need different proportions.
Custom artwork is reviewed before manufacture.
The important distinction
A 48 × 18mm stamp can place a design within an area up to 48mm wide and 18mm high. The plastic casing is larger. Your finished design may also use slightly less than the full area so letters, lines and edges have breathing room.
Measure the mark you want on the page — not another stamp's outer shell.

Choose by content
These are practical starting points from the current Stamp Ninja range. The longest line, number of lines, font and artwork detail can move you up or down a size.

| Size group | Current examples | Good starting point for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Very compact | 11mm square · 26 × 9mm | Initials, tiny labels, very short references | Limited line length and detail |
| Compact rectangle | 37 × 12mm | Names and one to three short lines | Long wording can become too small |
| Everyday rectangle | 48 × 18mm | Addresses and routine business details | Complex logos may need more room |
| Roomy rectangle | 58 × 22mm | Fuller addresses, logo plus text, longer lines | Check the space available on the document |
| Wide line | 75 × 18mm | Signatures, long statements and wide layouts | Not ideal for tall or square artwork |
| Large and extra-large | 70 × 30 · 75 × 38 · 77 × 36mm | Multiple details, larger logos and prominent marks | More size does not rescue unsuitable artwork |
| Square | 20 · 30 · selected 40mm | Square logos, symbols, badges and QR layouts | Leave clear space around important detail |

Fit the shape
Choose proportions that follow the content. That normally gives larger, clearer lettering than squeezing the same design into the wrong shape.
The natural fit for addresses, business details and several short lines of text.
Useful for signatures, long wording and layouts that need more width than height.
A better use of space for balanced symbols, square logos, badges and QR code artwork.
Detail needs room
A bold, simple logo can work at a smaller size than a detailed crest. Fine lines, tiny type, tight gaps and long web addresses all need enough room to reproduce cleanly.
Before you choose
A ruler and a quick paper mock-up can prevent an oversized stamp, undersized lettering or a design that does not fit its intended space.
Measure the clear space on the actual envelope, form, card or packaging — including margins and nearby printed content.
Tip: draw the width and height on scrap paper.Count the lines and identify the wording that takes the most horizontal space. That line often decides the minimum width.
Tip: shorten optional wording before buying a much larger stamp.Look at tiny type, fine lines and narrow gaps. Detailed elements often decide the minimum height and overall scale.
Tip: simpler artwork usually produces the strongest mark.Go to the right range

Choose the closest impression area and submit the personalisation or artwork. If the selected size or design is likely to affect the result, Stamp Ninja can contact you before production.
Standard self-inking stamp ink is intended for absorbent paper and untreated matt card. Glossy, coated, non-porous and washable surfaces can need a different product or ink.

Stamp size FAQs
Clear answers to the questions that most often affect the final size.
Measure the mark you want on the page, not the outside of another stamp. Check the clear width and height available on the actual document, envelope, card or packaging, then choose an impression area that fits comfortably.
It is the maximum impression area: the space available for the printed design. The plastic stamp body is larger. The finished artwork may use slightly less than the full area to allow breathing room around letters and edges.
No. Choose the smallest size that keeps every important line and detail comfortably clear. Forcing long wording, tiny type or a detailed logo into a very compact area can reduce legibility and print quality.
A 48 × 18mm impression is a useful everyday starting point for several short address lines. Shorter addresses may suit a compact size, while longer business details or a logo may benefit from 58 × 22mm or a larger format. Check the live product line allowance and preview.
Usually. A simple, bold logo can reproduce at a smaller size than artwork with fine lines, tiny lettering or tight gaps. Moving up a size or simplifying the artwork can give important detail more room.
A wide, shallow rectangle normally follows a signature more efficiently than a tall format. Measure the signature itself and leave a little space around its highest, lowest and longest strokes.
QR codes need clear artwork, enough size for the code complexity, a clean quiet area around the code and an even impression. A short destination URL can produce a less complex code. Test the final physical impression on the intended material and do not rely on size alone.
Stamp Ninja checks custom designs before manufacture. If the selected size or artwork is likely to affect the result, the team can contact you before production. This check does not replace reviewing your spelling, line breaks, measurements and on-screen personalisation before ordering.
Send the exact wording or artwork, the maximum space available and what you will stamp. A photo or measurement of the document, label or packaging area can also help the team recommend an appropriate format.
Use the Stamp Finder for a quick recommendation, or send the wording, artwork and available space to Stamp Ninja for help.
